      Trace out the Ancient Pengcheng: Lecture on the culture of "Black Thunderbolt - The Age of Firearms and Cold Weapons"

            Introduction:

            Chen Zhao, a librarian in Xuzhou Museum, will give a special lecture on the culture of "Black Thunderbolt - The Age of Firearms and Cold Weapons" in the academic lecture hall of the Xuzhou Museum at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2017, as part of a youth education campaign called "Tracing  out the Ancient Pengcheng."

            Of the four major inventions in China, gunpowder has the greatest impact on the history of human wars and killings. The use of gunpowder in the military field is the most important innovation in the history of war. When gunpowder was combined with manufacturing processes and appeared in the form of guns, the mode of war that has lasted for thousands of years since ancient times has been completely changed.

            The combined use of firearms and cold soldiers should be from the simple firearms that appeared in the Northern Song Dynasty to the middle of the Qing Dynasty, which lasted about 9 centuries. In 1259, the earliest tube-shaped firearm, the flare gun, was produced. This was the first successful attempt to fire projectiles with chemical energy, and it was also an important step in the history of early firearm development.


            In the Ming Dynasty, firelocks began to enter the battle. The firearms have greatly improved compared to the past. Even the rockets have improved over the past.

             Since the Qing Dynasty, the use of firearms in China has begun to take a big step backwards. So much so that in the face of an 1000 or 20000 of invading army, the grand powers were on the verge of death.


            The metal tubular firearms appeared in Europe before 1330. By the end of the 14th century, artillery and firelock had enter the battle in all European countries.    

      This lecture covers rich firearms knowledge and historic events, as well as a large number of exquisite photographs, line drawings, pictures and text, and informative information.

            Another highlight of this lecture is the selection of a large number of high-precision video materials. It can make the audience have a more intuitive understanding of the war and weapons in the cold weapon era.

            About the lecturer:

      Chen Zhao, male, born in Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province in 1968, Han nationality. He graduated from Nanjing Normal University with a major in Chinese Language and Literature in 1990. He is currently working as a librarian in Xuzhou Museum, Wenbo, and a tour guide for the People's Republic of China (Mandarin).

            He has ever participated in the work of writing, photography, and other books Map drawing, editing, etc.

          He published 4 papers in "Southeast Culture", "Xuzhou Literature and History" and other publications, submitted 4 papers in provincial and city academic seminars, wrote10 cultural science popular science column articles for "Chinese Rhyme" and "Pengcheng Evening News", and was interviewed by a number of media, including Shandong TV Station and Xuzhou TV Station.

            Notes for application

            For those who want to register to the activity, please go to the information desk in the lobby of the Xuzhou Museum, or directly log in to the educational activity section of the official website of the Xuzhou Museum. Registration is required to fill in the participant's name, ID card and mobile phone number. Tickets or ID cards are used to sign in for admission on the same day, and quotas are not transferable. If you are unable to attend the event on time, please cancel the reservation at the Xuzhou Museum lobby or official website before the  deadline. If you are unable to complete the online event reservation registration, please go to the information desk to register for a ticket with a valid certificate (passport, Taiwan compatriot card, etc.). Those who have made a reservation can enter the museum in advance through the green channel before the event starts. For children to register, they must fill in their ID card numbers (see the hukou book) and the guardian's phone number, and they will be accompanied by the guardian on the day. Music appreciation: In order to maintain a good environment for concerts, children over 1.2 meters or over 6 years old can enter. Elderly people over the age of 70 do not need to make an appointment, and participate in Wenbo Forum lectures and concerts with their senior citizens' certificates. Reservations are still required for other educational activities. There are a large number of visitors on weekends and holidays. Please reserve enough time in advance.
